This rainy, stormy weekend is tailor made for knitting. Staying in, keeping warm and dry, with your favorite warm beverage, and favorite Northeast Oddball Knitting Project.

We've got several new blankets ready to make the rounds, Tranquil Waters, Snow White, and Snuggle, so jump in wherever you'd like. Several other blankets have openings as well.

Also, please help us welcome the newest member of our group, FarmWifeNMama! She has already jumped right in on a worsted weight blanket.

Wow! Has it Really Been That Long?

Where did the Summer go? Sorry for the prolonged absence between posts, but I've been working or away for work every weekend since the middle of August. And am heading out of town again in the morning, but am determined to get this blog updated tonight!

Thanks to everyone for your hard work on our beautiful blankets, and to gmmarton for carrying the load while I've been MIA. Things should slow down quite a bit after this weekend, at least until the new year, so I hope to do a better job of keeping up with our prolific group.

Our Second August

It is hard to believe that our little project has turned one year old! These blankets have brought joy and comfort to so many, all thanks to your hard work and dedication.

And we're not resting on our laurels - or taking any stinkin' summer break! The awesome Northeast Knitting Group continues to come up with great ideas for new blankets.

We've got three new blankets: Seaglass (formerly She Who Is Not Named) being started by justbeth, Lemonade started by sugarmagknowya, and Lovely started by Spikey.

Hope you all are enjoying some nice weather and getting a chance to relax.

Lots of good progress being made on our blankets, as updated below, including some that have been in blanket-purgatory for a while. Some new ones as well, being started by justbeth and mdc550 (who donated the yarn for the Spumoni blanket, thanks!).

My online page a day calendar on all things "green" said today that knitting, crocheting, and all things crafty help the environment, as making "beautiful, useful objects for your own home and family and to give as gifts means fewer things to buy, and more control over the materials you’re bringing into your life and others'."

Right on. Of course, they've never seen me in a yarn shop, if they think knitting means I buy less stuff ;-)

Hooray for Independence

Hi there Northeasters!

Here's your early July progress update. Hope everyone is settling in for a long, relaxing holiday weekend of food, fun, family (if that's your thing) and knitting. As we head into the lazy days of summer, we'll keep making progress on our blankets, but we'll keep it low key - no pressure to produce.

Some spots still open for knitters and crocheters. kdstrack is starting a new blanket for us, called Seaside Sky. Sounds delightful!

Hey Junebugs!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday, and has time to do a little KIP, as it is World Wide Knit in Public Day!
